The Sunken Forest of Caddo Lake

Caddo Lake is home to living trees that still grow even in their semi-submerged state. Located on the Texas-Louisiana border in the town of Uncertain, Caddo Lake is home to the world’s largest cypress forest. Caddo is also Texas’ only naturally formed lake and covers 32,700 acres of a maze of channels and meandering bayous within thousands of acres of Spanish moss draped cypress. The growth rings on the present day cypress trees have as many as 400 to 600 years worth. Caddo Lake was also the site of the world’s first off-shore drilling for oil.

“the town of Uncertain”. It sounds like something out of a fairytale.

So majestic.
